For this project, I collaborated with the Stief Academie on a documentary exploring the personal experiences of being in a blended family. The topic resonated with me immediately, and I had a clear vision from the start of how to use video as a storytelling tool. I developed the concept into a completed film that allowed me to apply my filmmaking skills within a socially relevant context. The project also gave me the freedom to explore and refine my own visual style.

My process began with extensive testing and gathering feedback. Once the concept was solid, I moved into full production, filming with Jense de Jong and Romy Stapert as the central figures in the documentary. I approached the filming with the intention of creating a warm, home-like atmosphere, ensuring that each participant was portrayed with authenticity and care.

From preparation to filming and editing, I handled every step of the process independently, something I am deeply proud of. The client praised my ability to capture the personal stories of both the children and stepparents, highlighting how I balanced perspectives and represented emotions with respect. Particular mention was given to Jense’s ability to articulate his feelings, and how I translated that into a moving and honest portrayal on screen.

By maintaining close communication with the client and seeking feedback throughout, I ensured the narrative aligned with their vision. The final product, complete with thoughtful music choices and professional titles, stands as a sensitive and heartfelt representation of the challenges and connections within blended families.
