KARELIA BERYL MINE

In collaboration with the owners of the Karelia Beryl Mine, I produced a collection of documentary photography and aerial drone imagery for use across their website and social media. After contacting the owners with a proposal, we arranged a visit to document the site from both the ground and the air.

The project combined documentary photography with environmental storytelling, capturing the landscape, geological features, and atmosphere of one of Finland's historic mining sites. Alongside the commissioned imagery, I documented our search for minerals, adding a personal narrative to the project.

Although we didn't discover the beryl we had hoped for, we found several beautiful quartz crystals and produced a visual collection the owners were excited to use. Projects like this are especially rewarding because they combine client collaboration with genuine curiosity, allowing me to create authentic visual stories rooted in real experiences.
